Modern jazz and electronica

Skwodam’s music falls into the categories of modern jazz, downtempo, electronica and modern classical. There are clear influences of contemporary jazz, ambient, techno, house, classical and cinematic music. Emerging in the vibrant London music scene his distinctive sound is organic and balanced, emotional and thoughtful. His biggest influences are Bonobo, Jon Hopkins, Massive Attack, Max Cooper, Floex, Tom Hodge, Kiasmos, Four Tet, Shigeto, Tricky, The Hidden Orchestra, Alfa Mist, The Comet Is Coming, Neue Grafik, Nubya Garcia, Lamb and Trentemøller among many others.

Accompanying his augmented reality artworks he composes modern classical and modern jazz pieces. These are available exclusively for the owners of the artworks as NFT-s. More info about the AR artworks here.

As a DJ he plays these genres along with techno, house, drum’n’bass and classic jazz. Occasionally, he works as a film composer too.

Film composer

Jesse Carmichael (Maroon5) is the founder of 2mm, a short film collective, in which they explore stories under 2 minutes. He provided this film, originally published by Red Bull, to rescore. I recorded traditional throat singing and jaw harp with Mongolian artist Dian Sheng to score this intimate and emotional short.

Jesse’s feedback on the score: “Very cool percussion and throat sounds”

Homay Schmitz’s feedback: “Really great ideas with the Mongolian style throat singing and the percussive elements… The drums create a nice build.”

The story of a strange couple – my first ever film score with all the mistakes one can possibly make. But it still works.
